چکیده

Public preferences for sustainable land use policy instruments and the motivations behind such are important to make appropriate policies. Based on survey data (n = 309) from northeastern Somalia, we examined a set of relative no (i.e. current status quo) how cultural worldviews predict preferences. We used multinomial logit model analyze comparative evaluation choices due its interpretability robustness violations normality. Overall, results show that respondents likely consent all types more inclined market-based informational instruments. Specifically, regulatory positively associated with hierarchy egalitarian negatively fatalism individualistic only significant. The instrument is desirable except fatalism, but individual Preferences showed significant effect. Although there some contradictions, these broadly consistent proposition theory risk. This study highlights policies heterogeneous mainly explaining sources this heterogeneity. It evident were willing quo indicates need concerted effort reduce degradation deforestation in country. We, therefore, recommend policymakers incorporate different ways humans perceive interpret social-environmental relations into decisions achieve outcomes.

Application of eigenvector-based spatial filtering approach to a multinomial logit model for land use data

The present study builds a spatial statistical model for estimating land use maps. Many approaches for modeling land use maps exist in the literatures. A representative method includes a multinomial logit model (Miller and Plantinga, 1999), in which the likelihood of placing each land use category, such as land for building and forest, into each zone is explained by selected attributes such as ...

The Generalized Multinomial Logit Model

The so-called “mixed” or “heterogeneous” multinomial logit (MIXL) model has become popular in a number of fields, especially Marketing, Health Economics and Industrial Organization. In most applications of the model, the vector of consumer utility weights on product attributes is assumed to have a multivariate normal (MVN) distribution in the population. Thus, some consumers care more about som...

On Rank-Ordered Nested Multinomial Logit Model and D-Optimal Design for this Model

In contrast to the classical discrete choice experiment, the respondent in a rank-order discrete choice experiment, is asked to rank a number of alternatives instead of the preferred one. In this paper, we study the information matrix of a rank order nested multinomial logit model (RO.NMNL) and introduce local D-optimality criterion, then we obtain Locally D-optimal design for RO.NMNL models in...

Learning Mixed Multinomial Logit Model from Ordinal Data

Motivated by generating personalized recommendations using ordinal (or preference) data, we study the question of learning a mixture of MultiNomial Logit (MNL) model, a parameterized class of distributions over permutations, from partial ordinal or preference data (e.g. pair-wise comparisons). Despite its long standing importance across disciplines including social choice, operations research a...
